got some good news to share

¡MAíZ!

Sembrando el Futuro

I need to share a really great secret with you. Let me introduce you to a few important people. Elvia Cuevas, Jaime Bolanos, and Gilberto Partida. These three make up the backbone of the organization that is ¡MAíZ!, an organization with a pending non-profit application whose  mission is to serve the Latino and Latino Deaf Community. We are straight up start up from scratch. We have nothing but a mission and the hard work that each person has put forth thus far. Yet we have hit the ground running, with many embraces, invitations, and  much much work ahead of us.

Our Mission is to service as a Latino Deaf Resource, to increase Latino Deaf children's academic success and quality of life through extracurricular education and activities, through the provision of such services as including but not limited to such services as American Sign Language (ASL) classes for parents, and culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate tutoring for Deaf students, and offering access to information through the provision of services including but not limited to citizenship and civics classes with instruction and materials presented in American Sign Language, Spanish, or English.

There is so much more information to come. This was too good not to share.
