The Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) seeks the involvement of motivated and energetic persons to lend their knowledge and expertise to assist the association in meeting the goals and objectives of the strategic plan through the work of the committees. Opportunities to Serve on the 2009-2011 RID Committees: Affiliate Chapter Relations Committee The Affiliate Chapter Relations Committee advises the RID Board of Directors on issues relevant and related to the business of affiliate chapters. The ACRC, through its efforts to strengthen the organizational ties among and between affiliate chapters and the national organization, focuses on affiliate chapter leadership and compliance initiatives. Audit Committee The Audit Committee advises the RID Board of Directors through its oversight of all material aspects of RID's financial reporting, internal control and audit functions. The committee maintains a strong, positive working relationship with management, external auditors, finance staff, board members and other necessary participants. Bylaws Committee The Bylaws Committee advises the RID Board of Directors and RID affiliate chapter organizations with regards to governing documents and decision-making. This committee assists with the use of parliamentary procedures in accordance with Robert's Rules of Order – Newly Revised. Diversity Committee *NEW* The Diversity Committee assists the RID Board of Directors in promoting diversity and inclusion within the association, develops recommendations on how to make RID's membership and leadership more diverse and inclusive and assists in developing diversity programs and initiatives. Ethics Committee *NEW* The Ethics Committee advises the RID Board of Directors in the education, enforcement and review of the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct. NAD-RID Certification Council The NAD-RID Certification Council advises the RID Board of Directors by recommending policy and standards related to the NAD-RID and RID certification exams. Professional Development Committee The Professional Development Committee advises the RID Board of Directors on policies and standards for the Certification Maintenance Program and Associate Continuing Education Tracking programs. Scholarship and Awards Committee The Scholarship and Awards Committee assists the RID Board of Directors in developing and maintaining award and grant programs as well as selecting award and grant recipients. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As you know, RID is an organization comprised of countless individuals willing to give of their time and expertise for the good and growth of the organization and the interpreting profession. To carry on that tradition, which has been the foundation of strength and success for RID, we urge you to considering joining the RID Board of Directors, national office staff and your fellow colleagues as RID focuses on new challenges and opportunities in the path ahead.
